Step into the Haus and join us in an exploration of curiosity, play, and the intimacy of friendships shaped by living and creating together. Through tap dance and music, we’ll take you through our compositional journeys and the palettes absorbed from our environments – from Toronto to Galiano Island and Wisconsin to Manitoba. In a cultural climate often marked by division and disconnection, Open Haus centres collaboration and joy across disciplines, backgrounds, and perspectives, revealing the music and movement embedded in everyday life. We invite you into our conversation: what becomes possible when creation across disciplines is truly collective?

Haut Haus
We are an emerging, international collective of tap dancers and instrumentalists committed to blurring the boundaries between music and dance: Claudia Lachance (taps, sock taps), Brianna Maltais (taps, brush shoes, sock taps), Taryn Meyer (taps, sock taps, vocals) Michael Pineda (saxophone, vocals), and Dylan Sherman (bass). Together, we create original compositions and choreography rooted in the traditions of tap and jazz while honoring their Black American origins. Our process is grounded in co-creation, with dancers and instrumentalists working as equal collaborators within a non-hierarchal structure. Our collective was formed in 2024 through the Heather Cornell Legacy Project, which brought us all to Toronto for four weeks of collaboration.
