Every season, DanceWorks offers free outreach activities to support our Mainstage Series. Here is the line-up for the 2018/19 season:

These FREE concerts take place at the Canadian Opera Company’s beautiful Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre! A vibrant series that brings you up close and personal with dance artists in advance of selected Mainstage events. Arrive early, take a seat, and enjoy!

Kaha:wi Dance Theatre
Blood Tides|
Kaha:wi Dance Theatre presents a preview of Blood Tides, an inter-generational, inter-cultural and interdisciplinary performance work led by a powerhouse team of international Indigenous female collaborators from Canada, United States and New Zealand. The creation is a re-matriation to the house of humanity, the womb, the performance opens a sacred space to power up feminine voice, body and spirit.

Jaberi Dance Theatre
No Woman’s Land
Ahead of the world premiere in March, Jaberi Dance Theatre presents a preview of No Woman’s Land, an evocative new work based on real stories of women in refugee camps.The work uses dance, multi-media and verbatim theatre to explore the issues of displacement and gender based violence while honouring the courage, resilience, and extraordinary stories of survival of these women.

Dance artist and writer Carol Anderson pens insightful comments on choreographic works; created in collaboration with Dance Collection Danse. Carol’s Dance Notes will be included in the programs of select performances.

Moderated talk back sessions bring artists and audiences together to share impressions and viewpoints on the work. Talk Backs take place on the Friday evening of a run, immediately after the performance, right on stage.
