BRANDY LEARY
Brandy Leary is a choreographer and dancer whose work has been commissioned and produced across Canada, Europe, India, the Arctic, South Africa, and the United States, in theatres, festivals, museums, galleries, urban sites, and natural landscapes. Her choreographic work has been described as “phenomenological interventions” (Canadian Theatre), “soulful and sensuous” (The New York Times), and “magisterial movement” (The Guardian UK). A senior Kalarippayattu practitioner, Brandy is Founder/Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer of ĀNANDAM Dancetheatre, and choreographer of Why Not Theatre’s internationally touring, multi-Dora award-winning Mahabharata. She is also Co-Founder/Co-Director of Collective Space in Toronto.
“I have known Emily and David for many years and have followed their work and evolution over the past decade. Emily and I share a deep love of critical discourse, speaking bluntly, and a healthy humour about the absurdity of a life in dance. I’m very happy to be part of this conversation and to spend time with the artists and ideas that PARTS+LABOUR brings together.”
