NOMADA blends aerial dance, installation art, and contemporary Mexican indigenous dance. Inspired by personal stories of displacement, dances and stories from the P’urepecha and Otomi nations of Michoacan, and the relationship between our bodies and the earth, NOMADA is a visually stunning and visceral experience.
Co-presented with Canadian Stage as a part of the Festival of New Theatre.

Diana Lopez Soto is an award-winning multidisciplinary Mexican/Canadian artist, mother, land caretaker and producer. She has presented and exhibited her work nationally and internationally in France, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, the USA and Canada. She creates, co-creates and performs site-specific work, vertical dance, art installations and experimental film. Her interest in sustainable practices informs the direction of her collaborations and offerings. Some of her latest achievements are her participation at the Guapamacataro Art and Ecology residency, the Vancouver International Vertical Dance Summit and the ‘Ritual de las Aguadoras’ with the Tirindikua family from the Barrio de Santo Santiago Michoacan. Diana is the co-creator of 'Land Embodiment Lab' with Coman Poon, an artist associate of Vanguardia Dance Projects and collaborates with Hercinia Arts, Femme du Feu, Look Up Theatre and Victoria Mata.

Uarhi Creations is a centre for multi and inter-arts research, a generator of experiences, performances and offerings and an incubator of collective eco-initiatives. Uarhi Creations also serves as a conduit for sharing movement practices and alternative learning experiences. We integrate, support, and foster self-directed inquiries in sustainable practices through ritual, process-based work, and site-specificity. Artistic Director, Diana Lopez Soto, is committed to cultivating human and land relationships. She celebrates the reciprocity and restoration of our deep inherited connections to Mother Earth to reclaim ancestral wisdom.
