A visceral collision of movement and story, Architecture of Violence confronts the tension between space and power through raw physicality and striking imagery.

Commissioned by Scenkonst Sörmland for Jaberi Dance Theatre and now making its Canadian premiere after touring Sweden, the work traces intimate stories of hope, loss, and connection. Architecture of Violence reveals how people rebuild within and against structures of surveillance and control. Globally resonant and timely, it reveals shared struggles across cultures and geographies, inviting audiences into a threshold of reflection and reckoning.

JABERI DANCE THEATRE

Jaberi Dance Theatre (JDT) is an award-winning Toronto-based company and a leading voice in Canadian contemporary dance. JDT creates original works for the stage, screen, and public spaces under the artistic leadership of Roshanak Jaberi. Shaped by community research and generative collaboration, the company's practice moves between physical language and visual narrative. The result is a distinctive body of interdisciplinary creations that centre globally resonant socio-political themes. With a growing international presence, the company tours new work while supporting the field through mentorship, commissions, residencies, and professional development.

Roshanak Jaberi is an award-winning artist working across dance-theatre and film, whose practice combines visual narrative with socio-political themes. The artistic director and choreographer of Jaberi Dance Theatre, she is based in Toronto.

Co-Artistic Director of Kaeja d’Dance, Karen Kaeja is an award-winning performer, choreographer, director, and mentor. Her work is commissioned and presented globally, bringing together people from many walks of life into innovative creative collaborations.
